Helping Canadians run longer, farther and faster. It’s your dream and it’s ours at Brooks Sports. Running is our passion. We’re very excited to partner with the Independent Running Retailers of Canada in August 2014 to help create excitement for the best, and most addictive sport the world has ever known. Run Happy is a celebration of the spiritual essence that makes running amazing – an activity fueled by motivations that are as varied as its participants. Whether young or old, fast or slow, male or female, master or newbie, runners share a passion we live 24×7 at work and at play.

August 2014 is an amazing time of year – not just because we have been selected as your Supplier of Month. August marks for many in the IRRC retail community the start of the Fall season. This Fall you will see an amazing line-up of footwear and apparel from Brooks, including releases of the Ghost 7 and Glycerin 12. More and more runners are failing in love with the Ravenna 5 and our apparel pieces like the updated for Fall LSD Lite Jacket IV. From our Rock ‘n Roll marathons in Vancouver and Montreal, and sponsoring the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, you will see the Brooks brand flying high. By keeping our Run Happy philosophy at the heart of it all, we’re looking forward to celebrating happy running moments from coast to coast.

This is Dylan’s go-to shoe and we hope you will share this video on your website, Facebook page or even in an email out to your store followers. With Dylan’s help, we can provide runners a reason to try the Rider 17 today!

At Saucony, we run… and when we develop products, we listen to other runners, too. For a variety of reasons, it’s never been easier to gather constructive feedback from our audience, so we relied heavily on these types of insights while brainstorming the updates to the Kinvara 5.

Several updates to the Kinvara 5 were made as a result of requests for more durability. Runners love their Kinvaras, so naturally we want them to get more miles in their favorite shoe! Previous Kinvaras featured a mono-filament mesh that was great for its lightweight and breathable characteristics, but for Kinvara 5 we chose a new mesh that, while still lightweight, offers more flexibility and durability than before. The Kinvara 5 midsole/outsole platform is also new, and made from an enhanced EVA+ material with better abrasion resistance than ever before. On the outsole, we also added small placements of iBR+ rubber to provide more durability and cushioning on the outer side of the foot, where heavy wear is typical for many Kinvara fans.

We also heard requests for a smoother, softer collar lining next to skin (or sock). This version of the Kinvara features a super soft new material called RunDry® that creates an amazing step-in feeling and helps guard against hot-spots and chafing during the run.

Finally, Kinvara runners prefer a locked-down midfoot fit, and that’s what the addition of PRO-LOCK® technology in the upper will provide. PRO-LOCK® is a dynamic fit system that moves and flexes with the foot, making the shoe feel more like an extension of the body. PRO-LOCK® first appeared in Saucony’s track spike lineup and is another example of design DNA originally created to meet the needs of our elite athletes making its way into the rest of our line.

Perhaps the best news for Kinvara fans is that, despite these upgrades, the weight hasn’t changed at all. The Men’s still weighs in at 7.7oz (size 9) and women’s at 6.7oz (size 8). We’re confident that Kinvara fans will enjoy the same fast, lightweight feel, and now for even longer.

Here’s a closer look at the Kinvara 5!

Men’s weight: 7.7oz | 218.3g

Women’s weight: 6.7oz | 189.9g

Heel-to-toe offset: 4mm

Release date: May 1, 2014

At Brooks Sports our New Year’s Resolution is the same as last year, and the year before that, and the year before that – it is to inspire people to run and be active. Running is our passion. We’re very excited to partner with the Independent Running Retailers of Canada in January 2014 to help create excitement for the best, and most addictive, activity the world has ever known right at the start of the year.

What can you expect from Brooks in 2014? Expect the unexpected. IRRC Members will be doing business with our new Canadian subsidiary in January. We’re launching Transcend footwear in February with an out of this world campaign that exemplifies the float experience that our new technologies offer to runners. From evolving the running design aesthetic with PureProject apparel, to introducing exciting research that we believe will change the way we design, build, and market running footwear for years to come, Brooks Running is picking up the pace. By keeping our Run Happy philosophy at the heart of it all, we’re having a lot of fun while helping Canadians run longer, farther and faster.

Our sister brand Moving Comfort will lend support also. We know that a sports bra is more than another item of clothing. It’s an essential that gives women the freedom to move in any way she sees fit. We hear from women all around the world that finding the right sports bra has changed their lives. Building the right sports bra is our passion, and we love partnering with specialty run retailers in Canada to help connect women with the sports bra for their needs. In 2014 you will see a number of new sports bra styles from Moving Comfort that are available to retailers and their consumers – the Hot Shot, Switch It Up, and Just Right Racer.

While we have an incredible line up of product on both Brooks and Moving Comfort brands, at Brooks Sports we’re not just a shoe company or an apparel company or a sports bra company; we are a running company. Run Happy is a celebration of the spiritual essence that make running amazing – an activity fueled by motivations that are as varied as its participants. Whether young or old, fast or slow, male or female, master or newbie, runners share a passion we live 24×7 at work and at play.

New Balance – November Supplier of the Month

New Balance is honoured to have been selected as the IRRC Vendor of the Month for November 2013 and we are thrilled to be able to mark it with the introduction of the highly anticipated 890v4. The 4th generation of this adored running shoe promises to deliver on the surprisingly light ride of what REVlite has been, but in an even more exceptional package and with a revolutionized look. Utilizing a crash pad in a cradle-like design, and a FantomFit upper coming to life in a panel-like construction, this feel-fast experience cranks it up to the next level. The 890v4 continues with the 8mm drop of the 2nd and 3rd generations but does so in an even lighter package, further distinguishing this shoe from the competition.

We are also very excited to announce that the shoe has been given the Best Update Award by Runner’s World and will be featured in the upcoming December 2013 issue. This award would not be possible without the support of the incredible partnership New Balance enjoys with the members of the Independent Running Retailers of Canada. Their support and faith in what the 890 series has brought to runners is crucial to how the team at New Balance approaches the evolution of such an important running shoe to so many!
